This course builds on the basics explored in our Level 1 Foundation in Welsh Homelessness Law. Unless you already have a good understanding of homelessness law in Wales and the key terms included in the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, it would be more beneficial for you to first complete the Level 1 course which can be found here (link).
Through provisions in the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, the focus for local authority Housing Options teams has very much moved towards a preventative and early-interventionist approach to homelessness. But just how do they come to decisions regarding people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and what duties do they have under the law?
Shelter Cymru’s Level 2 course will give you all that you need to understand homelessness duties and the rights that people have to challenge decisions about their homeless applications
Course includes:
• Examination of Local Authority duties and how they are met
• In depth practical application of the homelessness process
• Discussion of review procedures and options
Suitable for:
Essential core training for anyone supporting people facing homelessness or the threat of homelessness including support workers and generalist advice workers. The course is also essential knowledge for housing solutions triage/first point of contact staff or for new Housing Options caseworkers. Anyone who has completed the Level 1 course.
