As part of the partnership between The Electrical Commission and Shelter Cymru, we are providing FREE Bilingual training running from March 2026 to May 2027.

This national programme will provide a range of free training and resources to help frontline staff confidently support voter registration among housing association tenants and people experiencing homelessness across Wales.

Designed to suit different learning styles and organisational needs, the programme includes flexible online learning, interactive workshops, in-person regional sessions, conference delivery, and practical take-away resources.

FREE – Voting Rights and Registration: Supporting Housing Association Tenants and People Experiencing Homelessness

This free online module gives frontline staff a simple, practical guide to voting rights in Wales. It explains who can register, how to register with or without a fixed address, and what to do if someone does not have ID.

The training also tackles common barriers such as frequent moves, temporary accommodation, and misinformation. You’ll find clear answers to common questions, myth-busting guidance, downloadable resources, and links to helpful services, all designed to make conversations about voting easier and more confident.

Housing association staff, support workers, advice providers, and any frontline professional supporting tenants or people experiencing homelessness.

Flexible and accessible

Supporting Voter Registration – Practical Guidance for Frontline Staff

Voter Engagement in Practice: Training for Staff Supporting Underrepresented Voter Groups will be held across Wales

These half-day in-person sessions give you practical, hands-on experience in voter registration support. You’ll take part in guided walkthroughs of the registration process, including how to register without a fixed address, as well as group discussions and shared problem-solving based on real situations.

Designed to build confidence and practical know-how, you’ll leave ready to apply what you’ve learned straight away.
