The Renting Homes (Wales) Act brings changes to most aspects of the law around renting in Wales including the ways in which landlords can regain possession of their properties. Whether you advise people on housing matters, support contract holders (tenants) facing eviction or make decisions about a person being homeless or threatened with homelessness, it is clear that you will need to understand the notice requirements that landlords are obligated to follow and the validity of any notices served. Security of tenure, defence options and the new remedies available to contract holders will form the basis of this advanced course ensuring that learners are prepared for the challenges of ending homelessness under the new regime of housing law in Wales.
This course includes:
- Security of tenure under the RHWA
- Understanding a notice seeking possession and checking its validity
- Grounds available to landlords under RHWA
- Restrictions on landlord notices
- Rent Arrears Protocol
- Possession Proceedings overview
- Technical and substantive defences
This course is for:
