The way that local authorities are intended to interpret the legislation and the duties that they owe people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness is largely based on the vision that underpins the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

The vision of the Act:

  • Help for everyone at risk or homeless
  • Early intervention to prevent crises
  • Less emphasis on priority need
  • Best use of all resources including the PRS
  • Working with people to help them find the best  housing solution
  • Partnership working across organisations and  services to achieve sustainable solutions
